About me
Maria Aloneftou was born in Nicosia in 1986. From a young age, she showed an inclination towards Fine Arts.
During her school years and throughout her studies, she attended private ceramics lessons. She graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Department of Visual Arts, with a specialization in Painting. Since 2015, she has opened her workshop “Homa ke Nero - Pottery Art” in old Strovolos, in collaboration, marking the beginning of her professional engagement with Pottery/Ceramic art and teaching it to both children and adults. She is mainly interested in artistic expression beyond the two-dimensional, as well as experimenting with various materials and techniques in her own creations.
I create ceramic objects that are both functional and expressive, exploring form, texture, and color. Inspired by landscapes, horizons, and urban environments, I reshape simple forms and use natural pigments and spontaneous markings to balance structure with intuition.
